Sometimes you need to disregard the forecast, even if NOAA tells you it is going to rain. Even when the USGS tells you a river is going to bump and might be blown out – no excuses – you just have to go.
Fortunately I was able to convince some good friends to disregard the forecast and celebrate my 39 birthday in style on the banks of the Wilson River.

In the end, ignoring the forecasts was the right call. Granted the fishing was far from red-hot, and we might have put our wading jackets to the test – the time spent with friends and the tight lines were well worth the trip.


And I finally shook my skunk off by landing my first winter steelhead.
