With turkey dinner in the rear view, I’ll admit that the SirusXM station entitled Holly has been on play lately in the Crawford family grocery-getter. I will say though that if Mariah starts to come on, it is swiftly changed – not ready for that level of yule tide yet. I’m ready for some holiday tunes more like skating myself.

One thing that will get me fully in the Christmas spirit though is the arrival of ski season. A few months ago I had given up hope for this ski season, and opted to watch whatever season might happen from the side lines. But we ended up choosing hope instead, and purchased passes at a smaller family-owned ski hill called Hoodoo, and this weekend we were rewarded with an early opening, just for pass holders.

The act of sliding down the snow, kind of like skating across ice, is a sure-fire way to get the endorphins flowing in me… but the entire process of skiing is what I think I love the most.

Like everything else this year, getting out for some turns on the ski hill is a bit more challenging. Prepping to operate fully out of the car, timing potty trips before for optimal uhhh performance, and seeking out less crowded areas. The other big change for me is just how appreciative I am of the entire experience. I definitely have realized that I approached a ski day as a routine in the past, but now I understand how each chair ride up with one of my daughters, or with the entire family, is such a gift.

I haven’t been out yet for skiing, but I can’t wait to pick up my cross-country skis if the traits feel too crowded. It’s so cool you get to have early access for downhill with your passes!

Very cool Sheri – I know there has been a pretty big shortage of nordic ski gear locally here in Bend, so I imagine the trails here are more crowded than usual, but still seems like a great way to get out and be distanced. Yeah it was a real treat to have only passholders up there. The ski hill is much smaller then our typical spot ( Mt. Bachelor ), but with that comes less crowds and lines so definitely feel like it was a good choice this year.

Vince Guaraldi’s Christmas album is definitely one of my favorites. I never get tired of it. We watched the Charlie Brown Christmas special this past weekend, and made christmas cookies.

If you like funk and soul, I highly recommend Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings christmas album. Super funky!
